New premixed combination of Butorphanol, Azaperone and Medetomidine now available for safe, rapid-reversal anesthesia of lab animals

This pre-mixed 11 ml formulation contains 27.3 mg of Butorphanol, 9.1 mg of Azaperone and 10.9 mg of Medetomidine is currently patented [US Pat.7795263] and distributed under the acronym: BAM™.

Originally developed as an anesthesia combination for wildlife and used in thousands of capture immobilizations worldwide, BAM is now available for lab animal research.

This novel anesthesia combination of Butorphanol tartrate, Azaperone tartrate and Medetomidine hydrochloride have been shown to be “co-synergistic”, bringing the best attributes of each active pharmaceutical at the lowest effective dose rate.

This new pharmaceutical tool offers:

  • Low volume dosing
  • 5-15 minute induction times
  • Relaxed abdominal respiration with excellent ventilation
  • Minimal increases in body core temperature
  • Retention of good blood oxygen levels
  • Anesthesia effect can be reversed at any time… with animals fully recovering within 5-10 minutes.
  • Reversibility characteristics provide maximum safety for lab animal species
